About the Role
Join Accela as an Account Executive and become an integral member of a dynamic, cross-functional regional Sales team. This remote-based position offers the opportunity to manage the entire sales cycle—from prospecting and qualifying leads to closing deals and expanding mid-sized opportunities across six key states. You'll drive pipeline growth with a proactive approach, build your book of business, and ensure sustained success within your designated market territory.
This Account Executive role covers Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, focusing on mid-size government jurisdictions that need Accela's cloud-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete sales cycle including prospecting, qualifying, negotiating, and closing deals for mid-size jurisdictions across your assigned territory
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in existing and prospect customer organizations
- Maintain and grow revenue from existing customers through strategic cross-selling and upselling of solutions into new departments
- Identify customer and prospect needs and tailor Accela's software solutions to address specific pain points
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date opportunity forecasts and customer records in the CRM system
- Lead and contribute to RFP (Request for Proposal) responses to drive deal closure
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing and Product teams to ensure customer satisfaction and align solutions with market needs
- Meet and exceed annual sales targets and key performance indicators
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent professional sales experience)
- 2–4 years of sales experience, preferably selling software solutions to state and local government agencies
- Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and time management capabilities
- Proficiency with CRM software and modern sales tools (Salesforce or similar platforms preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to qualify opportunities accurately and forecast sales pipelines with precision
- Willingness to travel in excess of 50% within your territory
