SonicAutomotive is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Auto-Body Technician to join our Global Imports MINI service department in Chamblee. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified technician to work with premium European vehicles in a professional, well-equipped automotive facility.
About the Role
As an Auto-Body Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and restoring vehicle body damage to manufacturer specifications. You'll work on a variety of MINI vehicles and other imported automobiles, utilizing industry-standard tools, equipment, and repair methodologies. This position offers the chance to develop expertise with luxury and specialty vehicles while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate vehicle body damage, including dents, creases, and structural concerns
- Perform metal straightening, welding, and panel replacement as needed
- Prepare vehicles for painting and coordinate with paint technicians
- Use computerized measuring and alignment systems to ensure precise repairs
- Maintain detailed work orders and repair documentation
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding repair timelines and costs
- Perform quality inspections on completed work before vehicle release
- Troubleshoot complex damage patterns and develop appropriate repair strategies
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Proven experience as an auto-body technician (minimum 2+ years preferred)
- Proficiency with welding equipment and metal straightening tools
- Knowledge of automotive safety systems and repair procedures
- Ability to read and interpret technical repair manuals and schematics
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MINI or BMW vehicles
