The Role
As a Backend Engineer on the AI Team, you will play a critical role in building, scaling, and optimizing the infrastructure that powers Sword's ML-driven clinical features, decision support systems, and next-generation Generative AI innovations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing robust, scalable backend systems that support AI/ML workflows and clinical decision-making
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (data scientists, product, clinical experts, frontend engineers) to deliver seamless, secure healthcare solutions
- Optimizing infrastructure for performance, reliability, and security in a regulated healthcare environment
- Developing APIs and services that empower internal teams and external users with personalized, data-driven care
- Contributing to architectural decisions that balance innovation with compliance and patient safety
- Ensuring systems are built for scale, supporting millions of patient interactions
