Security Automation Engineer

About the Role

Calendly is scaling its Security team and seeking a Security Automation Engineer to build and expand our security practice through thoughtful automation and engineering excellence. This is a unique opportunity to join a small team of exceptional security engineers and make a significant impact on how millions of users stay secure. You will report to the Head of Product Security and operate as a shared service across the broader Security organization, partnering with Product Security, Security Operations, and GRC teams.

What You'll Do

As a Security Automation Engineer at Calendly, your typical day involves:

• Identifying opportunities to eliminate manual security workflows and replace them with scalable, automated solutions
• Building internal tools and integrations that automate processes such as vulnerability triage and prioritization, alert enrichment and routing, and GRC evidence collection
• Partnering with security and engineering stakeholders to understand pain points and translate them into practical technical solutions
• Designing and building reusable "paved road" solutions that standardize how security workflows are executed across teams
• Using AI-assisted development tools and LLM APIs to accelerate implementation and problem-solving
• Continuously improving, maintaining, and scaling solutions to handle increasing volume, complexity, and organizational needs
• Supporting Product Security workflows as needed, including security reviews, vulnerability triage, and tooling development
• Supporting the secure usage and development of AI/LLM-powered features across Calendly

What We're Looking For

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with the ability to build and maintain production-quality systems, services, or automation
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Go, Ruby, or TypeScript
• Strong systems thinking and the ability to design scalable solutions that solve real problems across teams
• Curiosity about security domains and a genuine interest in learning security best practices
• Experience working with modern development tools, APIs, and cloud infrastructure
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both security and engineering stakeholders
• A passion for leveraging modern tools, including AI and LLMs, to accelerate development
