The Role
We are hiring a Cloud Engineering Manager for our BootStack team. This is your opportunity to lead talented engineers while driving the success of organizations leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. As Cloud Engineering Manager, you will manage engineers overseeing day-to-day managed services for customer environments, balancing customer service management, operations, and continuous product improvement.
The BootStack team designs, builds, and operates modern distributed systems on private infrastructure. From Kubernetes to OpenStack and beyond, you'll work with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced environment. Success requires collaboration across customers, product engineering, and operations teams globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow an engineering team to optimize quality and velocity in development and operations
- Identify and measure team health indicators to drive continuous improvement
- Implement disciplined engineering and operations processes
- Represent the BootStack team to stakeholders, customers, and external teams
- Ensure team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
- Work to meet service level agreements with customer deployments worldwide
- Deliver consistent, high-quality managed services in a timely manner
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a technology field
- Proven professional experience in software delivery using Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar languages, and/or managing operations teams
- Demonstrated experience with OpenStack
- Strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
- Experience with Linux system administration; Ubuntu/Debian preferred
- Excellent communication and cooperation skills
- Experience with agile software development methodologies
- Passion for open source development and cloud technologies
Location & Work Environment
This is a globally remote role. You'll work with a distributed team and travel 2–4 times per year for in-person strategy and execution meetings in interesting locations worldwide.
