About This Role
Join charity: water as a Supporter Experience Intern and gain hands-on experience in customer service, donor engagement, and nonprofit operations. This 8-week summer internship (May–August 2026) offers 20 hours per week of meaningful work supporting a mission-driven organization dedicated to bringing clean water and sanitation to people in need.
As the Supporter Experience Intern, you will work directly with the Supporter Experience team to manage incoming supporter inquiries, create fundraising materials, and drive donor retention initiatives. You'll report to the Supporter Experience Manager and play a critical role in ensuring our supporters feel valued and engaged throughout their journey with charity: water.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to common email inquiries from supporters with professionalism and empathy
- Cover overflow phone support during peak times, handling supporter questions and concerns
- Review the Donor Journey process, identify gaps, and suggest improvements to enhance supporter experience
- Update marketing collateral for fundraisers, school groups, and Water Walk participants
- Review and recommend updates for the charity: water kids page to ensure content relevance
- Create a comprehensive "Get Started" packet for new fundraisers to streamline onboarding
- Assist with handwritten outreach cards and personalized supporter engagement efforts
- Collaborate with fundraising and creative teams to support retention and offline engagement experiences
What We're Looking For
Must Have:
- Genuine passion for customer service, problem-solving, and building meaningful relationships
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Mac products and Google Workspace applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Nice to Have:
- Experience with customer service platforms (Zendesk, Dialpad, Salesforce)
- Familiarity with marketing tools (Sprout Social, Contentful, Iterable)
- Social media management experience (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok)
