Concept Artist / Illustrator

About the Role

Epoch Games is seeking a talented Concept Artist / Illustrator to join our creative team on a fully remote basis. In this role, you will be responsible for developing visual concepts, character designs, environment artwork, and illustrative assets that define the artistic direction of our game projects. You'll work collaboratively with game designers, art directors, and development teams to bring imaginative worlds and characters to life through compelling visual storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

• Create original concept art and illustrations for characters, environments, props, and UI elements
• Develop visual style guides and mood boards to establish consistent artistic direction
• Produce multiple iterations and variations based on creative briefs and feedback
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, animators, and technical artists
• Maintain high-quality standards while meeting project deadlines and deliverables
• Participate in creative brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas
• Adapt artwork for different game platforms and technical requirements
• Keep up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and best practices in digital art

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven portfolio demonstrating strong illustration and concept art abilities
• Proficiency in digital art software such as Photoshop, Procreate, Clip Studio Paint, or similar tools
• Strong understanding of color theory, composition, anatomy, and perspective
• Experience in game art or visual development for interactive media
• Ability to work independently and take direction in a remote environment
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
• Time management skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine
• Knowledge of 3D software or ability to work with 3D assets
• Background in animation or motion design
• Experience in a professional game development studio
• Portfolio showcasing character design or environment concept work
• Familiarity with industry-standard workflows and asset pipelines
