The Director, Integrated Media Planning leads integrated, compliant, and data-driven media strategy for pharmaceutical brands across HCP (Healthcare Professional) and DTC/Patient channels. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, execution, and client leadership—owning omnichannel planning, guiding investment decisions, and ensuring media drives real business outcomes across product launch and lifecycle management.
This is a senior agency position for someone who can set strategic direction, pressure-test thinking, and collaborate across cross-functional teams while remaining deeply engaged in day-to-day execution. You will partner with creative, account management, and analytics teams to deliver measurable results for pharmaceutical clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Media Strategy: Own media strategy across launch readiness and lifecycle management, translating brand goals into clear, actionable plans that align with compliance and regulatory requirements
- Omnichannel Planning: Develop and oversee integrated media approaches spanning digital, traditional, and emerging channels to reach both healthcare professionals and patient audiences
- Investment Guidance: Recommend and justify media budget allocation across channels, programs, and tactics based on audience insights, market data, and historical performance
- Client Partnership: Serve as a strategic thought partner to pharmaceutical clients, presenting recommendations, managing expectations, and ensuring media work drives tangible business impact
- Performance Management: Define success metrics, monitor campaign performance against KPIs, and optimize media mix based on real-time data and insights
- Team Leadership: Mentor and collaborate with media planners, analysts, and junior strategists to elevate the quality of planning and execution
- Compliance & Best Practice: Ensure all media planning adheres to pharmaceutical marketing regulations (HIPAA, FDA guidelines, industry codes) and reflects industry best practices
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of media planning and strategy experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or regulated industries
- Proven track record leading integrated media campaigns across HCP and patient audiences
- Strong command of media channels, audience targeting, and data analytics
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and client management skills
- Ability to balance big-picture vision with hands-on execution
- Understanding of pharmaceutical marketing compliance and regulatory environment
- Experience working in agency environments and managing stakeholder relationships
