Job Description

About GiveDirectly

GiveDirectly (GD) is reshaping international giving by providing cash grants directly to the world's poorest populations. The organization aims to establish cash transfers as a benchmark for foreign aid—similar to how index funds serve as a benchmark in the financial industry—and accelerate the end of extreme poverty globally.

Since launching in 2011, GiveDirectly has raised over $1 billion and delivered cash assistance to more than 2 million people across 15 different countries. The organization has been recognized by Fast Company as one of the most innovative non-profit companies and featured in prestigious publications including the New York Times Magazine, This American Life, Foreign Affairs, and The Economist.

GiveDirectly's work is underpinned by rigorous, experimental research demonstrating strong recipient impact. The Brookings Institution estimates that $70 billion in cash transfers would be required to eliminate the global poverty gap, yet the aid sector currently spends $135 billion annually—much of it on evidence-free interventions. GiveDirectly is working to change this dynamic through data-driven, direct assistance programs.

Organizational Culture & Team

The organization cultivates a culture that is candid, analytical, agile, and non-hierarchical. GiveDirectly's global team includes approximately 150 headquarters staff and 650 country operations team members spanning 21 countries and 69 languages. The diverse team includes software engineers, humanitarian workers, management consultants, public servants, researchers, and field operations specialists.

GiveDirectly's values are central and deliberately opinionated. The organization genuinely centers the people it serves in decision-making and strives to build an ambitious, dynamic, and high-performing environment. The company supports high ownership, flexibility, mutual care, and professional growth opportunities.
