Job Summary

The Director of Paid Social Media is a senior leadership role responsible for setting the strategic vision, overseeing execution, and driving performance across all paid social media initiatives. Reporting directly to the VP of Social, this client-facing role serves as the primary paid social subject-matter expert and strategic lead, partnering closely with Strategy, Client Services, Analytics, and Creative to ensure paid social programs deliver against client business objectives.

This position is designed for a highly experienced, data-driven leader with deep platform expertise, strong people management skills, and a proven ability to translate complex performance data into clear strategic direction for both internal teams and clients. The Director will oversee a team of social specialists, guide test-and-learn roadmaps, and help evolve paid social offerings in line with platform innovation and client needs.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Develop and communicate the strategic direction for all paid social initiatives, ensuring alignment with agency goals and client objectives
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for innovation, platform expansion, and service evolution
  • Stay ahead of platform changes, algorithm updates, and emerging paid social trends to maintain competitive advantage
  • Establish performance benchmarks and KPIs that drive accountability and measurable business results

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of paid social specialists and strategists
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, experimentation, and professional development
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify talent growth opportunities
  • Lead hiring initiatives to strengthen team capabilities and expertise

Client Relationship & Account Leadership

  • Serve as the primary strategic advisor and subject-matter expert for key client accounts
  • Present paid social performance, insights, and strategic recommendations to senior client stakeholders
  • Manage client expectations and ensure delivery of exceptional service and results
  • Identify upsell opportunities and drive revenue growth through expanded paid social services

Performance & Analytics

  • Oversee the analysis of paid social performance data and translate findings into actionable insights
  • Develop test-and-learn roadmaps that optimize campaign performance and ROI
  • Monitor key metrics including ROAS, CPA, engagement rates, and brand lift across all platforms
  • Prepare comprehensive reporting and dashboards for internal and client stakeholder review

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of paid social media experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior management role
  • Proven expertise across major platforms: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and emerging channels
  • Strong data analysis and performance marketing acumen with ability to optimize campaigns for measurable ROI
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex information clearly to clients and internal teams
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing teams
  • Deep understanding of social media advertising platforms, auction mechanics, and targeting capabilities
  • Experience managing six-figure budgets and demonstrating positive business impact

Preferred Qualifications

  • Agency experience in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
  • Background in digital marketing strategy and integrated campaign planning
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics tools and platforms
