Backend Engineer

About the Role

Docplanner is seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our distributed engineering team. In this role, you'll design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that power our healthcare platform, serving millions of users globally. You'll work on challenging technical problems, contribute to architectural decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement robust backend services and APIs using modern technologies and best practices
• Develop scalable database solutions and optimize query performance for high-traffic applications
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive test coverage and documentation
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement monitoring and observability solutions
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the team
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices

Who You Are

You're an experienced backend engineer with a strong foundation in software design principles and system architecture. You have proven experience building production-grade applications, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for writing quality code. You thrive in collaborative, remote-first environments and communicate effectively with distributed teams across time zones.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience
• Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (Python, Java, Go, Node.js, etc.)
• Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
