Epoch AI is seeking a talented Senior Product Designer to lead UI/UX design and data visualization initiatives. This is a pivotal role that bridges complex AI research with intuitive, user-centered design. You'll be responsible for translating sophisticated research findings into compelling visual experiences that resonate with researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders worldwide.

About the Role

As Senior Product Designer at Epoch AI, you will take full ownership of the design function, leading the creation and evolution of our digital presence. Your work will directly shape how our research is perceived, understood, and utilized by the global community. This is not a siloed design position—you'll be a strategic partner embedded within our organization, collaborating closely with leadership, communications, web development, and research teams to establish and maintain design direction across all touchpoints.

Key responsibilities include:

• Website Design & Development: Own the design and user experience of Epoch AI's website, ensuring it effectively communicates our mission and research to diverse audiences
• Dashboard & Data Visualization: Create intuitive, interactive dashboards and data visualizations that make complex research findings accessible and actionable for researchers and policymakers
• UX Leadership: Set design standards and best practices across the organization, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and user-centered design principles in all digital products
• Strategic Collaboration: Work directly with the Head of Operations and cross-functional teams to translate business objectives and research insights into compelling design solutions
• Research-Informed Design: Partner with research teams to deeply understand complex AI and policy research, then distill that knowledge into elegant, understandable visual interfaces
• Stakeholder Engagement: Design experiences that drive engagement with researchers, policymakers, and other key stakeholders, directly impacting the reach and influence of our work

What We're Looking For

You should have demonstrable expertise in UI/UX design with a strong portfolio showing your ability to design sophisticated data visualizations and information architecture. Experience designing for research, policy, or technical audiences is highly valuable. You'll need strong visual design skills, deep knowledge of design systems and accessibility standards (WCAG compliance), and proficiency with modern design tools.

Beyond technical skills, we're seeking someone who is intellectually curious about complex problems, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and genuinely motivated by the mission of making important research more accessible and impactful. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll need to articulate design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Work Environment & Requirements

This position is fully remote with flexibility across global locations. Epoch AI is able to offer contracts in many countries, though we have a strong preference for candidates in North and South American timezones to facilitate collaboration with core team members.
