About the Role

As Lead 3D Game Artist, you'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of 3D art production, from concept through final implementation. This leadership position combines hands-on artistic work with mentorship, creative direction, and strategic planning. You'll work collaboratively with game designers, technical artists, and producers to ensure visual excellence across all game projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 3D artists, providing creative direction and technical guidance
• Develop and maintain comprehensive 3D art style guides and best practices documentation
• Create high-quality 3D models, textures, and materials for characters, environments, and props
• Optimize 3D assets for real-time performance across multiple platforms
• Collaborate with game designers to translate game concepts into compelling visual experiences
• Review team work and provide constructive feedback to maintain quality standards
• Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies in 3D game art
• Participate in art production planning and project scheduling
• Work with technical artists to implement shaders, effects, and advanced rendering techniques
• Contribute to the overall creative vision and artistic direction of game projects

What We're Looking For

You're a seasoned 3D artist with a proven track record of leading teams and delivering AAA-quality game assets. You possess exceptional artistic skills combined with strong leadership abilities and a passion for gaming. Your portfolio demonstrates mastery of 3D modeling, texturing, and a deep understanding of real-time rendering pipelines.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience as a 3D game artist
• 2+ years of proven leadership or mentorship experience in game development
• Expert proficiency in industry-standard 3D software such as Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max
• Advanced knowledge of PBR (Physically Based Rendering) workflows and texturing
• Proficiency with game engines, particularly Unreal Engine or Unity
• Strong understanding of polygon optimization and LOD (Level of Detail) systems
• Excellent portfolio showcasing character art, environment art, or both
• Outstanding communication and collaborative skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Substance Painter or similar texture authoring tools
• Knowledge of shader programming or visual effects implementation
• Experience shipping commercial game titles
• Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative development workflows
• Understanding of animation pipelines and rigging principles
• Experience with motion capture or facial animation technology
