Job Description

About Skin Analytics

Skin Analytics is an award-winning health technology company revolutionizing skin cancer detection through artificial intelligence. Following a successful £15M Series B funding round, the company is experiencing rapid expansion—doubling headcount from 50 to 100 employees in 2025—and preparing for significant international scaling.

The company's flagship product, DERM, represents a breakthrough in medical AI. It holds a Class III CE mark and is the only AI-as-a-medical-device approved to make autonomous clinical decisions in the cancer diagnosis space. Notably, DERM is the first company to receive a NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) recommendation for use across the NHS, demonstrating clinical validation and regulatory excellence.

Currently deployed across more than 28 NHS organizations, DERM enables patients to access skin cancer diagnosis significantly faster than traditional pathways. The company also partners with major health insurers to extend diagnostic capabilities directly to patients in their homes. The team is united by a compelling mission: building a future where no one dies from skin cancer.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will lead the finance function during a critical growth phase. This is a strategic business partnership role, not just an operational finance position. You will provide essential financial insights to support international expansion, work closely with the Senior Management Team on budgeting, fundraising, and reporting, and oversee a dedicated Management Accountant.

This position offers substantial scope for professional development within a highly commercial accounting environment, with clear opportunities to expand your responsibilities and influence as the business scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Finance Operations Leadership: Own all daily finance activities, establish robust finance policies and processes that balance control with risk management, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the function.
  • Strategic Projects: Lead ad hoc projects emerging from business growth, including process optimization, system implementation, and organizational restructuring. You'll actively shape both this role and finance's integration with other departments as the company scales internationally.
  • Team Management & Mentoring: Manage and develop a capable Management Accountant, providing oversight and mentorship to ensure their growth aligns with company expansion. Delegate accounts payable, bank reconciliation, payroll administration, and expense processing responsibilities while maintaining control and quality standards.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare comprehensive monthly management accounts for Board review, investor communications, and Senior Management Team decision-making. Lead the preparation of annual consolidated statutory accounts in collaboration with the VP Operations & Finance and external accountants. Provide analytical support and specialized reporting to the wider business, including operational reports and service evaluations.
  • Fundraising Support: Collaborate with leadership to prepare financial documentation and analysis required for investor relations and future funding rounds.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop and maintain budgets that support the company's ambitious growth targets while maintaining financial discipline and accountability across departments.

What We're Looking For

You will be an experienced financial professional with proven expertise in managing finance functions within scaling technology or health tech companies. Strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and process-oriented thinking are essential. You should be comfortable with ambiguity and able to thrive in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve rapidly.

Experience with fundraising, investor reporting, and managing external accounting relationships is valuable. Your ability to communicate financial insights clearly to non-finance stakeholders and influence strategic decision-making through data-driven analysis will be crucial to success in this role.

Experience in regulated industries (particularly medical devices or healthcare) is advantageous given DERM's regulatory status and NHS deployment. Familiarity with SaaS or technology business models is beneficial but not required.

Why Join Skin Analytics

This is an exceptional opportunity to make a tangible impact in healthcare technology while advancing your career. You'll work alongside passionate professionals committed to solving a critical global health challenge. The company's impressive regulatory achievements and clinical validation (Class III CE mark, NICE recommendation) demonstrate serious execution capability and commercial viability.

The rapid growth trajectory provides genuine opportunities for professional development and expanded scope. You'll influence how finance scales alongside the business and shape processes that will serve an international organization. Join a mission-driven team building the future of AI in dermatology.
