Job Description
About Flux
Flux is revolutionizing hardware design by developing the world's first AI Hardware Engineer. The company is democratizing the ability to create bleeding-edge hardware and transforming how electronics are designed and built globally. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll be instrumental in building the full-stack systems that power Flux's platform experience.
About the Role
As a Senior Platform Engineer at Flux, you'll own the complete architecture and implementation of critical platform systems that serve every user. Beyond the core editor, you'll build and maintain user-facing features including billing systems, authentication frameworks, onboarding flows, and third-party integrations. Your work will directly impact Flux's ability to scale, ensuring reliability and performance across all core platform operations.
This is a full-stack position requiring expertise across the entire technology stack—from backend services to customer-facing interfaces. You'll ship production features that touch thousands of users, maintain platform stability, and enable Flux to grow sustainably.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain user-facing platform features including billing, authentication, onboarding, and user settings
- Integrate and maintain third-party APIs such as Stripe, Firebase, and analytics platforms
- Develop TypeScript/Node.js backend services and React frontend components for production environments
- Optimize reliability and performance of critical platform flows and user journeys
- Implement comprehensive observability, logging, and error-tracking standards across systems
- Collaborate cross-functionally to design scalable APIs supporting new products and integrations
- Document system architecture and establish best practices within your domain
- Troubleshoot complex, multi-system issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience in production environments
- Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and React
- Proven experience integrating and maintaining third-party APIs at scale
- Demonstrated track record shipping production-quality full-stack web applications
- Working knowledge of cloud hosting platforms (GCP, AWS, or Firebase) and CI/CD practices
- Strong debugging and cross-system troubleshooting capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to thrive in async, distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms or collaborative web applications
- Familiarity with authentication frameworks including OAuth, JWT, and Firebase Auth
- Exposure to observability and monitoring stacks such as Sentry, Datadog, or Grafana
- Background developing internal tools or administrative dashboards
- Startup or early-stage (0 → 1) product-building experience
Ideal Candidate Profile
Impact-oriented: You're driven by delivering real value to users. You iterate until people are genuinely benefiting from your work.
Ambiguity-native: You thrive in undefined environments with fluid constraints. The evolving landscape of AI hardware engineering excites rather than overwhelms you. You're comfortable taking initiative when direction shifts.
Remote-first mindset: You excel in asynchronous communication and distributed team environments, requiring minimal synchronous coordination.
