Full Stack WordPress Developer

About the Role

Blacksmith Agency is seeking an experienced Full Stack WordPress Developer to join our award-winning digital agency. You will spearhead the development of unique, custom WordPress themes and plugins for our diverse client base. Transform completed design files into live, interactive web experiences with beautiful, clean code while collaborating with UX/UI designers and backend developers to bridge design and technical implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch using expert-level HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Build responsive websites optimized for all devices and browsers
• Leverage Gutenberg blocks and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) for dynamic functionality
• Convert Figma design files into pixel-perfect, custom WordPress implementations
• Implement SASS/SCSS and Flexbox for modern, maintainable styling
• Perform cross-browser compatibility testing and resolve technical issues proactively
• Apply ADA accessibility and SEO best practices across all projects
• Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and performance
• Collaborate seamlessly with designers and backend developers to ensure cohesive project delivery
• Manage code versions using Git/Bitbucket
• Communicate positively with strong work ethic and reliability

Required Qualifications

• Expert proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Advanced expertise with Gutenberg blocks and WordPress core functionality
• Proven experience building custom WordPress themes and plugins
• Hands-on experience with SASS/SCSS/LESS and Flexbox
• Proficiency with Git/Bitbucket version control
• Ability to develop from design files and execute responsive, cross-browser compatible solutions
• Knowledge of ADA and SEO best practices
• Self-directed learner willing to master new technologies
• Important: This role does NOT use template-based builders (WP Bakery, Divi, Elementor) – all projects are custom-built from scratch

Bonus Qualifications

• 3+ years of agency experience
• Experience with React, Angular, or other JavaScript frameworks
• Proficiency with vanilla.js and ES6/ES2015
• Experience with task runners (Gulp, Grunt, Webpack)
