The Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Commercial Strategy to establish Pulse—Sword's revolutionary AI care solution for cardiometabolic health—as the category leader across health plans, self-insured employers, brokers, consultants, and platform partners. This is not a quota-carrying sales role. This is a high-impact individual contributor leadership position where you will drive outsized strategic impact through personal expertise, relationships, and influence across the organization without managing a team.

You will be responsible for market positioning, competitive differentiation, pipeline generation, and commercial intelligence that ensures Pulse wins against every incumbent in the cardiometabolic space. Pulse represents Sword's expansion into the highest-cost chronic condition category in the U.S., addressing hypertension, pre-diabetes, diabetes, and GLP-1 support through a three-way AI care model connecting members, AI health specialists, and human health specialists.

Key Responsibilities

  • External Commercial Leadership: Serve as the external face of Pulse's commercial narrative, shaping how health plans, brokers, consultants, and employers perceive Pulse relative to competing solutions in the cardiometabolic space
  • Market Positioning & Strategy: Determine competitive positioning and ensure clear differentiation against established cardiometabolic solutions including Hello Heart, Omada, Teladoc, Virta, and Vida
  • Sales Enablement: Equip sales teams with unfair advantages—including positioning, proof points, relationships, and market intelligence—to achieve 75-80%+ win rates against incumbent competitors
  • Internal Market Voice: Serve as the internal voice of the market, ensuring product development reflects what the market needs to perceive Sword as the unambiguous category leader
  • Pipeline Generation: Drive strategic pipeline development across all key customer segments and channels
  • Competitive Intelligence: Provide ongoing competitive analysis and market intelligence to inform strategy and product evolution
  • Product-Market Alignment: Close the loop from market feedback to product, ensuring Pulse evolves to dominate the cardiometabolic category

Required Qualifications

  • Proven track record in commercial strategy roles within healthcare, health tech, or adjacent industries
  • Deep understanding of U.S. healthcare markets, including health plans, employers, and the broker/consultant ecosystem
  • Demonstrated expertise in competitive positioning and category leadership
  • Experience developing go-to-market strategies for innovative healthcare solutions
  • Exceptional ability to influence without direct authority across cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders
