Immigration Forms Specialist (Part-Time, Remote)
💰 $80,000 – $130,000/yr
Job Description
About This Role
Assist-World is seeking an experienced Immigration Forms Specialist to join their remote team and provide critical backend support to a busy immigration law office. This is not an entry-level position — you must bring 3–4+ years of hands-on experience completing U.S. immigration forms and working with supporting documentation. You will handle time-consuming administrative work, allowing the in-office team to focus on client relationships and legal strategy.
Starting at 10 hours per week with a flexible, task-based schedule, this role offers growth potential as your performance demonstrates capability. You'll work independently with minimal supervision, meeting tight deadlines while maintaining the highest accuracy standards.
Core Responsibilities
Immigration Forms Completion (Primary Focus)
- Complete U.S. immigration forms accurately and independently, including:
- N-400 (Application for Naturalization/Citizenship)
- I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative)
- I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status)
- I-601A (Application for Provisional Waiver of Grounds of Inadmissibility)
- Review client intake information and accurately input data into case management systems
- Verify all information is correct, complete, and consistent across all forms
- Identify discrepancies and flag issues before submission
Document Management & Organization
- Review, scan, and organize client documentation (passports, birth certificates, tax returns, employment letters, medical records, etc.)
- Identify missing required documents and create follow-up lists
- Extract critical information (passport numbers, visa numbers, I-94 numbers, travel history dates, prior addresses)
- Maintain organized file structures using Google Drive and Docs
- Ensure USCIS document requirements are met before submission
Client Communication (Light Touch)
- Send written follow-up emails requesting missing documents
- Clarify unclear or incomplete information from intake forms
- Maintain professional, clear communication with clients
- Utilize Spanish communication skills or translation tools as needed
Translation & Bilingual Support
- Translate immigration forms and supporting documents into Spanish
- Assist with bilingual client communication where necessary
- Ensure translations are accurate and terminology-appropriate
Software & Systems Proficiency
- Work efficiently within Google Drive and Google Docs
- Learn and operate immigration-specific software platforms (experience with any of these is a plus: e-Immigration, Serenade, Docketwise, Filevine, Imaginiti)
- Manage case files and track document status
Required Qualifications
- 3–4+ years of hands-on U.S. immigration work experience — this is non-negotiable
- Proven track record completing immigration forms (not just reviewing or proofreading)
- Deep, practical understanding of USCIS processes and requirements
- Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration documentation standards
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or daily check-ins
- Exceptional attention to detail — errors in immigration forms can have serious client consequences
- Reliable ability to meet firm deadlines (typically 1–2 days for form completion)
- Comfortable with remote work and self-directed task management
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluent or conversational Spanish
- Prior experience with immigration software platforms
- Established remote work history
- Familiarity with USCIS filing procedures and fee structures
Schedule & Work Arrangements
- Starting Hours: 10 hours per week
- Schedule Type: Flexible, task-based (not rigid time slots)
- Deadline-Driven: Must complete assigned forms and documents within 1–2 days
- Location: 100% remote
- Growth Path: Hours will increase based on performance and workload needs
- Long-Term Potential: Ongoing remote work opportunity
