About This Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and infrastructure that power NBCUniversal's business intelligence and analytics initiatives. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and product managers to deliver data solutions that drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of data
• Develop and optimize data warehouse solutions and data lake infrastructure
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical implementations
• Implement best practices for data quality, security, and governance across the organization
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of the data engineering team
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data infrastructure issues in production environments
• Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies to improve data engineering capabilities
• Document systems, processes, and technical decisions for knowledge sharing
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field
• Strong proficiency in SQL and database design principles
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
• Expertise in Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar distributed computing frameworks
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala)
• Demonstrated ability to design and optimize complex data pipelines
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and architecture
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with data governance and metadata management tools
• Experience in media, entertainment, or streaming technology sectors
• Contribution to open-source data engineering projects
• AWS or Google Cloud certifications
