Content and Communications Lead

Job Description
About Recidiviz
Recidiviz is creating safer, healthier communities by improving outcomes for people in the criminal justice system. We build technology to reduce the number of people in prison and help criminal justice leaders embrace data-driven decision-making. Using software tools and thoughtful product design, we've safely and permanently reduced incarceration and improved outcomes across multiple states. We work side-by-side with criminal justice system leaders, people in prison and on supervision, and ecosystem partners to build a better path forward.
Our organization is supported by revenue from state partners and some of the most respected philanthropists and foundations in the sector. We believe in leading with kindness and humility, assuming good intent, learning from failure, and fixing problems when we see them.
The Role
We're hiring a Content and Communications Lead to join our marketing team—a small, fast-moving group that creates moments and messages driving our mission forward. As a master storyteller with a strategist's eye for reputation, you'll own our narrative across both owned and earned channels, building the content engine that shapes how the world perceives Recidiviz and our impact.
Your work will bridge content marketing and strategic communications, ensuring every blog post, case study, and press pitch positions Recidiviz to drive greater impact with government partners. You won't just be writing—you'll be hunting for impact by:
- Interviewing pilot users to uncover success stories and translate them into assets that inspire adoption in other states
- Partnering with data analysts to understand and communicate industry-leading metrics and insights
- Managing a highly targeted PR and speaking engagement strategy to secure high-value industry placements that validate our work
- Supporting the State Engagement and Business Development teams with narrative tools to build deep, high-trust relationships
- Developing strategic communications that limit exposure to risks in a polarized media environment
You'll report to the Chief Marketing Officer and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our messaging is cohesive, impactful, and mission-driven.
What We're Looking For
This role requires 7+ years of experience in content strategy, communications, or related fields. You should be comfortable working in a mission-driven, fast-paced environment with the ability to translate complex criminal justice data and initiatives into compelling narratives for diverse audiences. Experience with government stakeholder engagement is a significant advantage.
