The Opportunity

Roofr is at a critical juncture with AI integration, and this role sits at the center of that transformation. As Engineering Team Lead of the AI Platform team, you'll architect and lead the foundational systems that make AI a native capability across Roofr's entire product ecosystem. You'll establish integration architecture, agent patterns, and core abstractions that every product team will depend on. This is a horizontal, cross-cutting role that positions you as one of the organization's most influential technical contributors—with the rare opportunity to define how an entire product organization integrates with AI from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead a team of platform engineers, setting technical direction, mentoring talent, and conducting code reviews as the team scales
• Define the application-layer foundation for AI at Roofr—establishing core integration patterns, agent architecture, and shared abstractions for product teams organization-wide
• Own integration architecture strategy, making foundational decisions on how Roofr connects to AI services and third-party systems while setting standards for engineering-wide AI implementation
• Design and maintain the third-party integration layer with scalable, reliable patterns for connecting Roofr to external services and APIs
• Build data pipelines powering AI features, including structured data feeds, embeddings, retrieval infrastructure, and observability systems
• Champion platform reliability, performance, and developer experience—teams building on your platform depend on your excellence
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to shape the AI roadmap and help the organization understand technical possibilities
• Navigate the maturing codebase and drive architectural consistency across domains with varying levels of maturity
• Establish standards and best practices for AI development at Roofr—from SDK design to observability, testing, and reliability patterns
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and services, assessing fit and integration feasibility

What You Bring

You have proven experience leading engineering teams and architecting platform systems at scale. You excel at systems thinking, understanding how to build foundational layers that enable other teams to move faster. You're skilled in designing integrations and APIs, with strong experience in data pipeline architecture. You understand the full AI stack—from LLM integration and prompt engineering to retrieval systems and observability. You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and you're passionate about mentoring engineers and building high-performing teams. Your track record shows you can navigate ambiguity, make sound architectural decisions with incomplete information, and drive technical consistency across large codebases.
