The Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll drive the technical architecture and roadmap of Roofr's backend systems. This is an opportunity to make a large impact on both technical implementation and product direction in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You'll work alongside a cross-functional team that values doing things "the right way" and shipping code confidently.

What You'll Get to Do

• Help drive backend architecture to the next stage of Roofr's systems
• Work in a fast-paced cross-functional team that prioritises engineering excellence
• Contribute to all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle, from planning to delivery
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members to develop technical requirements
• Write clean, maintainable code for functional web applications and reusable libraries
• Develop unit, functional, and acceptance tests
• Troubleshoot and support production applications
• Proactively recommend initiatives to improve engineering technologies and culture

What You'll Bring to the Role

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Proficiency with PHP language and Laravel framework
• Champion of agile methodologies with a track record of shipping code often and confidently
• Proven ability to break down complex problems into incremental solutions
• Excellent communication skills with appreciation for good documentation
• Ownership mindset—you're proud of the quality of your work
• Collaborative spirit in environments where everyone helps each other grow
• Understanding of early-stage company priorities and trade-offs
• Bonus skills: DevOps, Big Data/Data Science, Machine Learning, or GIS experience
