Job Description

About Imagine Worldwide

Imagine Worldwide is a California-incorporated nonprofit organization dedicated to solving the global literacy and numeracy learning crisis. Operating across Sub-Saharan Africa through locally-registered entities in Malawi, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania, the organization partners with governments, communities, and organizations to deliver child-directed, tablet-based learning via the onebillion application. With a mission to empower every child with foundational literacy and numeracy skills, Imagine Worldwide provides an innovative, massively scalable, and evidence-based education technology solution that reaches millions of marginalized children worldwide.

Role Overview

The Senior BI & Data Analyst is a core execution role within Imagine's Analytics Team, positioned at the critical intersection of data infrastructure and meaningful analytical work. This hybrid position requires genuine expertise in both directions—designing dashboards for country teams while simultaneously conducting deep dives into operational datasets to answer strategic business questions.

As a key contributor to the Analytics Team, you will enable data-driven decision-making across all organizational functions and global country teams, spanning programmes, fundraising, finance, HR, logistics, technology, and country-level delivery. This role recognizes that both learning outcomes and operational effectiveness must be grounded in trusted, accessible data. You will be responsible for building dashboards, reports, and analytical outputs that empower rigorous, evidence-based decision-making across Imagine's international programmes.

Reporting to the Director of Analytics, you will collaborate closely with the Analytics Engineer (who owns underlying data models), the Data Scientist (leading impact evaluation and experimental design), and the MEAL team (monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning). You serve as the primary interface between Imagine's data infrastructure and the organization's day-to-day information needs—the go-to person that function leads, country teams, and operational staff rely on when data must work for them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dashboard & Reporting Ownership: Design, build, maintain, and continuously improve data dashboards and reports that translate organizational frameworks into accessible, actionable insights for diverse stakeholder groups
  • BI Tooling Advocacy: Champion best practices in business intelligence tools and systems, ensuring the organization leverages technology effectively for data visualization and accessibility
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Conduct ad-hoc analyses and investigations to answer specific operational questions, combining data expertise with business acumen
  • Data Infrastructure Collaboration: Work with the Analytics Engineer to ensure robust data models support organizational needs and enable scalable reporting
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the trusted liaison between technical data capabilities and non-technical users across all departments and country operations
  • Impact Evaluation Support: Partner with the Data Scientist on experimental design, monitoring frameworks, and learning evaluation processes

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a BI Analyst, Data Analyst, or equivalent role in a complex, multi-functional organization
  • Advanced proficiency with BI visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar platforms)
  • Strong SQL and relational database knowledge for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical audiences through clear visualization and storytelling
  • Experience working with mission-driven organizations or non-profit sector (preferred)
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
