Senior IT Project Manager - SAP Integrations (LIMS, MES) in Pharma

FusionConsulting is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager with deep expertise in SAP integrations, particularly within Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) environments. This is a unique opportunity to lead critical infrastructure projects in the pharmaceutical industry, where precision, compliance, and system reliability are paramount.

As a Senior IT Project Manager in this role, you will oversee end-to-end project delivery for complex SAP integration initiatives that support pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality assurance, and laboratory operations. You'll work with cross-functional teams including IT infrastructure, software development, quality assurance, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless system implementations that comply with FDA regulations and GxP standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Drive full lifecycle management of SAP integration projects, from initial requirements gathering through post-implementation support and optimization
  • LIMS & MES Integration: Oversee integration of Laboratory Information Management Systems and Manufacturing Execution Systems with SAP ERP platforms, ensuring data integrity and system interoperability
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with pharmaceutical clients, internal teams, vendors, and regulatory bodies; ensure clear communication and alignment on project objectives
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks specific to pharmaceutical IT implementations, including compliance, security, and operational continuity concerns
  • Budget & Resource Planning: Manage project budgets, resource allocation, and timelines while maintaining quality standards and regulatory compliance
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all implementations meet pharmaceutical industry standards including FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GMP, and other relevant compliance frameworks
  • Team Mentorship: Coach and mentor junior project managers and technical team members; foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence
  • Documentation & Governance: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, change management records, and audit trails required for pharmaceutical industry audits

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of IT project management experience, with at least 4 years specifically managing SAP integration projects
  • Proven expertise with LIMS and MES systems in pharmaceutical or life sciences manufacturing environments
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical industry compliance requirements (FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP standards, ISO standards)
  • Proficiency with project management methodologies (PMP, Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches)
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-million dollar projects with complex technical and business requirements
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
  • SAP Certified Associate or higher certification
  • Experience with cloud-based SAP solutions (SAP Cloud, SAP S/4HANA Cloud)
  • Knowledge of API development and system integration architecture
  • Previous experience working with pharmaceutical companies on regulated implementations
  • Familiarity with change management and organizational transformation initiatives
