Deputy CTO

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join Social Discovery Ventures as a key member of our executive technology leadership team. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned technologist ready to drive innovation, scale our engineering operations, and help shape the future of our technology strategy across a global organization.

As Deputy CTO, you will work alongside our CTO to oversee all technical initiatives, manage engineering teams, and ensure our technology infrastructure supports rapid growth and maintains the highest standards of performance, security, and reliability. You will be responsible for translating business objectives into robust technical roadmaps and leading the execution of strategic technology projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the CTO to define and execute the company's technology vision and strategy
• Oversee and mentor engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
• Manage the technical roadmap, prioritize engineering initiatives, and ensure alignment with business goals
• Drive architectural decisions and establish best practices across the engineering organization
• Lead efforts to improve system scalability, performance, and reliability across all platforms
• Evaluate and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools to enhance engineering capabilities
• Collaborate with product, design, and business teams to deliver innovative solutions
• Champion code quality, testing standards, and software development best practices
• Monitor technology trends and competitive landscape to keep the organization ahead of the curve
• Participate in recruitment and talent development within the engineering department
• Ensure compliance with security standards and data protection regulations

What We're Looking For

You should be an accomplished technical leader with a strong background in software engineering and demonstrated success managing technology teams and projects at scale. We seek someone with:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior technical leadership or CTO-level position
• Proven expertise in designing and scaling distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
• Deep knowledge of modern software development practices, including CI/CD, microservices, and containerization
• Strong understanding of backend technologies, databases, APIs, and system architecture
• Experience leading and growing high-performing engineering teams across multiple time zones
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strategic mindset combined with hands-on technical capabilities
• Track record of making sound technical decisions that balance innovation with pragmatism
• Passion for building scalable, maintainable, and secure technology solutions
• Experience in fast-paced, growth-stage environments
