Position Overview

We are seeking an English-fluent Software Architect based in Latin America to join our team and work remotely. This is a contract position for an independent contractor, ideal for experienced architects looking to shape the technical direction of a growing healthcare platform expanding across Europe.

We're looking for someone with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills who embraces change while maintaining strong attention to detail. You should be an interested and proactive professional constantly learning and improving your technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Architecture Design: Design comprehensive architecture for the platform, including backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and integrations with labs and wearable devices
• System Reliability: Ensure all systems are secure, scalable, and maintainable across the organization
• Scalability Planning: Plan for platform growth as the company expands across Europe, anticipating future capacity and performance requirements
• Healthcare Data Solutions: Lead work in key areas including health data storage and processing, real-time data ingestion, and AI integration pipelines
• Best Practices Leadership: Define and promote best practices for code quality, security, testing, and system reliability across the engineering organization
• Technical Culture: Help build a technical culture that balances speed with robustness, ensuring quality doesn't compromise velocity
• Engineering Mentorship: Provide technical leadership by reviewing architecture decisions, guiding complex implementations, and mentoring engineers on the team
• Implementation Oversight: Ensure that designed systems are actually built well, not just designed on paper

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years in software engineering with proven system architecture responsibilities
• Frontend Technologies: Must have hands-on experience with TypeScript, React.js, and React Native
• System Design: Demonstrated experience designing systems involving APIs, distributed services, and data platforms
• Cloud & Backend: Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, scalable backend systems, and data architecture patterns
• Problem-Solving: Enjoy solving complex technical problems and helping engineering teams move faster
• Communication: Fluent English required for effective collaboration with global teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with health data or in regulated environments (healthcare, fintech, etc.)
• Background with real-time data systems and AI/ML integration pipelines
• Experience mentoring and scaling engineering teams

About This Opportunity

This role offers the chance to architect systems from the ground up for a rapidly growing healthcare platform. 💰 Compensation: $5,000–$6,500 USD per month, depending on seniority and skillset. This is a contract position for independent contractors processed through a payroll platform.
