About This Role

As an Oracle Database Administrator at SoftwareMind, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing Oracle database environments across multiple platforms and versions. You will play a critical role in ensuring database availability, performance, security, and compliance for our diverse client base. This position offers the flexibility of remote work while being part of a collaborative, international team.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include monitoring database health, performing routine maintenance tasks, managing backups and disaster recovery operations, and responding to database incidents. You'll work closely with development teams, system administrators, and stakeholders to ensure seamless database operations and continuous improvement of database infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database instances across various environments (development, testing, production)
  • Monitor database performance and implement optimization strategies to ensure peak efficiency
  • Execute regular backup and recovery procedures; design and test disaster recovery plans
  • Manage database security, user access controls, and ensure compliance with organizational policies
  • Perform database patching, upgrades, and version migrations with minimal downtime
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, providing timely support to application teams
  • Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation and procedures
  • Analyze logs and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application deployments and data migrations
  • Stay current with Oracle best practices and emerging database technologies

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator (minimum 3+ years)
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle database architecture, administration, and management tools
  • Proficiency with SQL and PL/SQL programming
  • Experience with Oracle backup and recovery solutions (RMAN, Data Guard, or equivalent)
  • Solid understanding of database performance tuning and optimization techniques
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and database deployment on these platforms
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication abilities and willingness to support a global, distributed team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or cloud database solutions
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (shell scripts, Python, Ansible)
  • Experience with high-availability solutions such as Oracle RAC or Active Data Guard
  • Knowledge of database replication and synchronization technologies
  • Experience in agile or DevOps environments
