SoftwareMind is seeking a talented Senior Applied Scientist to join our growing team in a fully remote position. As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical implementation, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop, prototype, and deploy machine learning solutions and scientific algorithms that power our platform. You'll take ownership of complex technical challenges, mentor junior team members, and shape the future direction of our scientific initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement advanced machine learning models and algorithms addressing real-world business challenges
• Conduct research and experimentation to evaluate new methodologies, frameworks, and technologies for product enhancement
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate scientific concepts into scalable, production-ready solutions
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality and effective feature engineering for model training
• Evaluate model performance through rigorous testing, validation, and A/B testing frameworks
• Document technical approaches, methodologies, and findings to share knowledge across the organization
• Mentor junior scientists and engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation
• Stay current with emerging trends in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and applied data science
• Present findings and technical recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or related quantitative field
• 5+ years of professional experience in applied machine learning, data science, or scientific computing roles
• Demonstrated expertise in Python or similar scientific programming languages
• Strong foundation in machine learning algorithms, statistical methods, and their practical applications
• Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and relevant libraries (scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas)
• Proven ability to work with large datasets and distributed computing environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to approach complex challenges systematically
• Strong communication abilities and experience presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Experience in a product-driven environment, shipping models to production

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of MLOps practices and tools for model deployment and monitoring
• Background in natural language processing, computer vision, or reinforcement learning
• Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop)
• Contributions to open-source machine learning projects
• Published research or technical articles in relevant fields
