About the Role
Join Hopper's Fintech team as a Senior Software Engineer and make a substantial impact on the future of travel technology. This is an exceptional opportunity to architect and oversee the development of sophisticated, AI-accelerated systems that power 70% of Hopper's overall revenue. You'll lead the growth and maturation of our Disruption and Insurance product category while mentoring talented engineers and leveraging cutting-edge generative AI tools to deliver production-ready solutions.
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
Plan, investigate, and scope upcoming projects that you own end-to-end, from inception to production deployment.
Mentor and guide other team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
Leverage AI agents and large language models (LLMs) to generate production-ready code, focusing your expertise on high-level architectural alignment and achieving critical business objectives.
Stay current with new AI advancements and apply them strategically to optimize your work and solve complex engineering challenges.
Participate in regular team meetings to discuss ongoing projects and plan upcoming sprints in Hopper's intentionally low-meeting culture—no team member has more than 10 hours of scheduled meetings per week.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We're looking for an experienced software engineer with a proven track record in:
Full-stack development across multiple platforms and technologies.
System architecture expertise, designing scalable, maintainable solutions for enterprise environments.
AI integration—adept at utilizing AI in daily workflows and building autonomous agentic systems.
Service communication—skilled in gRPC, pub/sub messaging, and REST API design patterns.
Cloud infrastructure—proficient with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native development best practices.
Infrastructure as Code—experienced deploying and managing infrastructure using Terraform or similar tools.
Business acumen—strong understanding of product strategy with a product-focused approach to engineering decisions.
Project leadership—demonstrated ability to lead complex projects from conception through production delivery.
Quality commitment—dedicated to enhancing system reliability and showcasing excellence in software engineering practices.
Industry experience (preferred)—background in travel or fintech industries, with understanding of their unique challenges and regulatory requirements.
