Translation Evaluator – Russian/English (Remote)

About This Role

As a Translation Evaluator with Appen, you'll play a crucial role in improving AI-generated translations by evaluating their accuracy, naturalness, and stylistic consistency. This is a project-based remote opportunity perfect for language professionals who want flexible work with direct impact on AI quality. You'll work as an independent contractor evaluating translations between Russian and English, helping train and refine machine learning models used globally.

What You'll Do

• Read source conversations and translation requests to understand context and requirements
• Score AI-generated translations on a 1-5 scale based on accuracy, fluency, and adherence to tone/style guidelines
• Rewrite and correct translations that require improvements to meet quality standards
• Provide detailed feedback on translation errors, including grammar, terminology, and cultural appropriateness
• Follow detailed project guidelines and quality assurance protocols
• Complete tasks at your own pace with flexible scheduling
• Maintain high accuracy standards throughout evaluation work

Who We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications:

• Native fluency in both Russian and English (bilingual proficiency required)
• Proven ability to distinguish between high-quality and poor translations
• Strong attention to detail with meticulous accuracy in evaluation work
• Demonstrated capability to follow complex instructions and guidelines
• Professional background in translation, linguistics, or language studies
• Prior experience with AI data annotation or crowdsourcing projects
• Reliable internet connection and ability to work independently
