People & Operations Intern
💰 $80,000 – $130,000/yr
Job Description
About This Role
Simular is seeking a People & Operations Intern to help build how the company functions—both behind the desk and out in the world. This is a full-time internship opportunity to gain hands-on experience at an early-stage AI company, supporting critical functions across hiring, onboarding, compliance, office management, and employee experience. You'll also represent Simular at hackathons, career fairs, and community events, making this a dynamic role that extends beyond traditional HR tasks.
This position offers a unique window into how a modern, AI-focused organization operates from the inside out. You'll work across multiple departments, touching everything from talent acquisition to IT compliance to process automation, giving you broad exposure to business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Hiring & Talent Engineering
- Support the full hiring pipeline: post open roles, screen resumes, coordinate interviews, and follow up with candidates
- Assist with onboarding new hires, including equipment provisioning, account setup, welcome materials, and first-week logistics
- Represent Simular at career fairs, university events, and recruiting meetups to attract top talent
Events & Community Engagement
- Help organize and attend hackathons, tech meetups, and industry events
- Coordinate team events, offsites, and internal culture initiatives
- Be an ambassador for Simular at external events, meeting candidates, partners, and community members in person
Operations & Compliance Management
- Support office space selection and management
- Assist with IT compliance activities: device management, security policies, and access controls
- Coordinate with external vendors including insurance providers, IT service partners, and other essential service providers
- Support employment compliance across multiple jurisdictions, handling contracts, visa applications, and labor law requirements
- Maintain organized employee records and documentation
AI & Process Automation
- Identify repetitive operations workflows and help automate them using AI tools, no-code platforms, or custom scripts
- Build and maintain internal automations such as onboarding checklists, compliance reminders, and candidate pipeline tracking systems
- Develop practical AI literacy by working daily with AI agents and large language models (LLMs) as part of standard operations
- Help the team stay at the frontier of AI: test emerging tools, document what works, and share best practices across the organization
Ideal Candidate Profile
You're likely a fit for this role if you possess the following qualities:
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail; you can manage multiple concurrent tasks without losing track
- Clear, professional communication abilities across written and verbal channels
- Proactive mindset: you identify problems and take initiative to solve them without waiting for direction
- Genuine curiosity about AI and a desire to build real AI literacy, not just surface-level familiarity with tools
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fast-moving startup environment
- Interest in people operations, business processes, and organizational development
- Willingness to work hands-on across diverse operational areas
Why Join Simular
This internship is ideal for someone wanting to understand how an early-stage AI company actually operates. Rather than focusing on a single narrow function, you'll gain exposure to hiring, HR, compliance, technology infrastructure, and cutting-edge AI automation. You'll develop skills across multiple business domains while contributing meaningfully to company success. This role offers mentorship from a team deeply invested in AI and process innovation, and the opportunity to build your own AI literacy in a practical, real-world context.
The position requires full-time commitment and is based remotely, offering flexibility while keeping you connected to a dynamic, forward-thinking team.
