Education and Workforce Data Strategist
The American Institutes for Research (AIR) Employment & Economic Opportunity Program is seeking an experienced Education and Workforce Data Strategist to drive applied research, data science, and capacity-building initiatives for public sector change management. This role bridges the gap between complex data analysis and actionable policy development, working collaboratively with internal teams and external state/local partners to leverage education and workforce administrative data for evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative analyses using administrative and survey data to support research, evaluation, and technical assistance initiatives
- Contribute to the design of rigorous analytic approaches, including descriptive, longitudinal, and quasi-experimental methods
- Provide coaching and technical assistance to state and local clients and partners on leveraging data for informed decision-making
- Support clients in refining research questions, interpreting findings, and translating results into practical applications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data strategies aligned with organizational and client objectives
- Communicate complex analytical findings to diverse audiences, including policymakers, practitioners, and technical teams
Ideal Candidate Profile
You bring proven experience working with complex datasets and administrative data systems. You are equally comfortable conducting advanced statistical analyses and guiding stakeholders in data interpretation and application. Your background likely includes work in education policy, workforce development, or related social science research. You excel at translating technical findings into actionable insights for non-technical audiences and thrive in collaborative, mission-driven environments.
Work Location & Flexibility
This position offers flexibility to work remotely within the United States (excluding U.S. territories) or from one of AIR's U.S. office locations. The role requires availability to participate in meetings across all continental U.S. time zones, supporting a collaborative and interconnected team environment.
