The Role

Join us as a Senior Frontend Engineer, Design Systems & Commerce at a pivotal moment. As an early hire, you'll shape how customers experience our connected e-bike brand online—from campaign pages to checkout. This is a greenfield opportunity at a fast-paced, venture-backed startup where you'll own critical surfaces, make real decisions, and work directly with a small, highly motivated team.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering and creative. You'll partner with design, brand, and UX teams to bring beautiful concepts to market quickly, ensuring everything ships fast and works everywhere.

What You'll Do

• Build and own the frontend of our storefront, product detail, collection and category pages, and gear/merchandise shop
• Extend and steward our design system, growing the component library and patterns to enable creative partners
• Architect Shopify theme sections, blocks, metafields, and metaobjects for self-serve page composition by creative and merchandising teams
• Partner directly with creative and UX teams to drive Figma designs and concepts from idea to shipped page
• Own merchandising surfaces including category pages, faceted filtering, variant selection, and cross-sell modules
• Ship seasonal and concurrent campaigns with clean scheduling, staged launches, and graceful takedowns
• Maintain quality standards including Core Web Vitals, accessibility, responsive behavior, cross-browser correctness, and analytics instrumentation
• Collaborate with backend engineering to define data contracts and APIs

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional frontend engineering experience
• Deep expertise in modern JavaScript and React
• Proven experience building design systems and component libraries
• Strong working knowledge of Shopify (Liquid, theme development, or custom apps)
• Demonstrated ability to ship fast without sacrificing quality
• Comfort owning the full stack from creative concept to production
• Experience with performance optimization and Core Web Vitals
• Passion for e-commerce and user experience
