Forward Deployed Engineer, Operations

About Alternative Payments

Alternative Payments is building the financial operating system for SMBs, consolidating the disconnected tech stack that holds service-based businesses back. Starting with MSPs, we've spent five years perfecting accounts receivable, and we're now expanding into accounts payable, AI-powered analytics, and beyond.

The Role

We're looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to own end-to-end initiatives that solve real business problems. This is an internal-facing role—your customers are our Operations, Product, Customer Success, and Sales teams. You'll be embedded with these teams, understanding their real problems and building systems that solve them.

Key Responsibilities

• Build internal AI data infrastructure that consolidates business insights and makes them usable across teams
• Create internal tools and dashboards (Ops, Finance, Super Admin) that run the business, plus automations behind them
• Own work that scales from prototype to production: internal applications, automations, product integrations, and agentic workflows
• Collaborate with the Product Engineering team on net-new product POCs, bringing business context to technical decisions
• Review code and architecture from AI-assisted development to ensure safety, reliability, and minimal tech debt
• Build products we'd otherwise buy—custom-fitted versions of Sales, CS, and Marketing tools that match how we operate

What We're Looking For

• Strong systems thinking and ability to translate business problems into technical solutions
• Comfort working with AI—using it in daily workflows, team enablement, and building agentic systems by default
• Experience shipping internal tooling and automations at scale
• Ability to move fast: prototype ideas, harden them into production systems, and iterate based on real feedback
• Passion for understanding why something matters to the business, not just what needs to be built

Culture

We're growing fast, thinking big, and building a global team. We believe the best solutions come from diverse perspectives, deep collaboration, and a shared obsession with customer impact. If you're energized by real problems, real customers, and real impact, we want to hear from you.
