Job Description
About Arc
Arc is electrifying the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs from first principles. The company is scaling production of its flagship model and expanding into commercial applications including tugs, ferries, and defense, with a robust pipeline of signed contracts across vessel types.
The Role
As Manager, Quality, you will own quality across Arc's products, factory, and supply base. You'll lead the quality team, develop the Quality Management System, and partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Service to improve product quality from design through delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and own Arc's Quality Management System, including document control, non-conformance, corrective actions, and audits
- Lead and develop Arc's team of quality engineers and inspectors, setting standards and scaling the organization alongside production growth
- Define and improve key quality metrics: first-pass yield, defect escapes, rework, cost of poor quality, and supplier performance
- Drive root-cause investigations and corrective actions across Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, suppliers, and field issues
- Establish inspection and acceptance strategies for incoming material, production processes, and completed vessels
- Build Arc's supplier-quality system, including qualification, first-article inspection, scorecards, audits, and corrective actions
- Embed quality upstream through PFMEAs, control plans, design reviews, production-readiness reviews, and new-product introduction
- Prepare Arc for customer, regulatory, commercial, and defense quality requirements for future programs
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
- 6+ years in quality within hardware manufacturing, including 2+ years directly managing a team
- Demonstrated experience building or substantially rebuilding a Quality Management System
- Working command of core quality methodology: root cause analysis, CAPA, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, or MSA
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
This is a full-time, on-site position at Arc's Los Angeles headquarters in Torrance, CA.
