The Role

We are seeking a Data Engineer specialized in AWS Glue to design, build and maintain enterprise-scale data ingestion and processing pipelines. You will work with a global U.S. client on a remote opportunity based in LATAM (Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru).

The primary focus is data ingestion: moving data from heterogeneous sources into Amazon S3, with AWS Glue as the core processing engine. You will own pipeline reliability, data quality and cost efficiency in enterprise and highly regulated environments, implementing solutions across the full medallion architecture from raw landing through cleansed and gold layers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain ingestion pipelines for relational, file, API and streaming sources into Amazon S3, including full, incremental and CDC-based loads
• Define and maintain landing and raw zone layouts: partitioning, file formats, naming conventions, compression, retention and data immutability
• Onboard new source systems end-to-end, managing connectivity, network configuration, credentials, extraction strategy and coordination with source owners
• Guarantee load completeness and integrity through reconciliation, control tables, reprocessing procedures and clear failure handling
• Implement processing across medallion architecture layers with cleansing, standardization, deduplication, conformance and business rules
• Register and maintain datasets in the Glue Data Catalog, keeping schemas, partitions and metadata aligned with Athena, Redshift and Lake Formation
• Tune job performance and cost by monitoring DPU consumption, execution times and file layout
• Embed data quality checks and monitoring throughout pipelines

Required Expertise

• Advanced proficiency with AWS Glue (PySpark, job design, catalog management)
• Strong data warehouse and medallion architecture knowledge
• Experience with Amazon S3, Athena, Redshift and AWS Lake Formation
• Expertise in data ingestion patterns, CDC, incremental loads and data reconciliation
• SQL and Python proficiency
• Understanding of enterprise data governance and regulated environments
