About the Role
Meter is building the modern networking infrastructure that businesses like Lyft and Reddit rely on to stay connected. As an Enterprise Sales Engineer, you will partner with our Enterprise Sales team to bring better networks to more customers by leveraging your technical expertise to win over the hearts and minds of IT and network engineers. You'll be an integral part of an early team of Enterprise Sales Engineers that will design and build the technical engine needed to compete against legacy vendors in a giant industry that hasn't seen a successful new entrant in decades.
What Success Looks Like
First Few Weeks: You'll build relationships with the Sales team, Sales Engineering peers, product design and manufacturing teams, and customer deployment teams. You'll establish yourself as a trusted advisor internally while beginning to develop expertise across routing, switching, wireless, and security—with the ultimate goal of becoming a Subject Matter Expert across the entire Meter portfolio.
Early Months: Join sales calls and contribute to immediate revenue growth of $1M+ in committed quarterly Enterprise revenue. Lead technical discovery calls and design technical solutions that help the Sales team win deals. Your technical credibility and confidence will accelerate customer conversations and deal progression.
Ongoing Development: Build process and structure within the Sales Engineering team. Design and create assets covering common Enterprise use cases (e.g., EVPN-VXLAN reference architectures, 802.1X integration guides) and standardize documentation and training. These efforts will accelerate deal cycles by at least one week and increase win rates across the organization.
Career Path: Clear advancement opportunities into Principal Sales Engineer roles, vertical specialization, or leadership tracks. Lead strategic accounts, mentor new Sales Engineers, and define onboarding programs for future team members.
What Your Day Will Look Like
Your days will balance selling, asset building, and product translation across 60% deal execution and 40% strategic development:
- Lead technical discovery calls to understand customer pain points with legacy networking solutions
- Deliver world-class demonstrations that inspire confidence and secure buy-in across multiple stakeholder groups
- Design custom technical solutions addressing specific Enterprise requirements
- Partner with Sales team to develop competitive positioning and counter-objections
- Create reference architectures and integration guides for common use cases
- Build standardized documentation and training materials for core networking competencies
- Contribute to product feedback and shape the future direction of Meter's offerings
Required Expertise
You'll need deep technical knowledge in enterprise networking fundamentals including routing protocols, switching architecture, wireless technologies, and network security. Experience working directly with Enterprise customers, demonstrating complex technical solutions, and translating between technical and business stakeholders is essential. You should be comfortable learning new products quickly and sharing knowledge with peers and customers.
