Scopely is hiring an Associate Counsel, Product & Privacy to join the legal team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis. You'll report to the Senior Director and work across game teams including Marketing, Engineering, Art, User Acquisition, Player Experience, and Community, alongside QA, Infosec, and other business functions. This collaborative role suits someone comfortable managing a broad portfolio, connecting cross-functional teams, and finding practical solutions in a fast-paced mobile games environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as day-to-day product counsel for multiple game teams, advising on features, in-game events, launches, live operations, and player-facing initiatives
  • Advise on marketing and advertising matters including campaigns, user acquisition, CRM communications, advertising claims, and player disclosures
  • Lead legal support for tournaments, contests, sweepstakes, and promotions—covering structure, rules, international considerations, IP, and rights of publicity
  • Support strategic intellectual property counseling on naming, branding, launches, trademark strategy, copyright, licensing, asset clearance, and infringement matters
  • Support senior counsel on EU regulatory initiatives affecting video games through research, impact assessments, and cross-functional coordination
  • Handle routine privacy and data protection questions; identify and escalate complex issues to Privacy specialists
  • Develop proactive guidance for business teams including training, guidelines, templates, and resources on marketing, advertising, IP, and consumer protection
  • Identify opportunities to improve recurring legal work through process optimization, standardization, automation, and responsible AI tool use

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of legal experience at a law firm and/or technology, entertainment, gaming, or consumer-facing company
  • Strong background advising on intellectual property, marketing, advertising, consumer protection, and product matters
  • Proven practical experience with marketing and advertising review, IP matters including promotions, trademarks, copyright, and asset clearance
  • Working knowledge of privacy and data protection requirements sufficient to handle routine questions and identify escalation issues
