Job Description

Headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, Archer is a leader in the next-gen aerospace sector building an end-to-end advanced air mobility platform that delivers air taxis, unmanned aircraft systems (“UAS”), aviation-related physical artificial intelligence (“AI”) solutions, and other technologies to customers worldwide across the commercial aerospace and defense sectors.

Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.

About the Role:

We are looking for a SW engineer experienced in simulation environments and tools for our integrated test organization that is at the center of the validation and verification activities for Archer’s VTOL aircraft. It’s high-ownership, high-visibility work that directly enables our path to certification and commercial operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and build simulation environments for integrated labs, HILs and SW benches used in aircraft validation and verification
  • Own the tools and interfaces for the above labs for optimizing workflows and ensuring configuration management and traceability that supports certification and regulatory requirements
  • Integrate third-party software and hardware systems into simulation architectures, collaborating closely with internal teams and suppliers
  • Develop and optimize simulation pipelines with CI/CD integration for automated deployment, execution, and monitoring
  • Set technical standards, mentor other engineers, lead work breakdowns and planning, and drive resolution of complex issues across labs

What you need:

  • 8+ years of experience in building and maintaining HW-in-the-loop test simulation environments and associated SW tools
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace, Software, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong C/C++ and Python skills
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink in a real-time simulation environment
  • Strong command of communication protocols: RS-422/485, CAN/CAN-FD, ARINC-429, Ethernet/TCP-IP
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and agile workflows
  • Comfortable with planning, execution, and technical mentorship of teammates
  • Strong problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and trouble-shooting skills

Nice To Have:

  • Experience in aerospace, spacecraft, or autonomous vehicles
  • Proficiency in the NI software suite (LabVIEW, VeriStand)
  • Experience in real-time OS development
  • Familiarity with FAA frameworks and DO-178 standards
  • Startup or fast-paced aerospace development experience

At Archer we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our business. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $170,000 - $215,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
