Sr. Supplier Development Engineer (Injection Molding)

About the Role

SpaceX is seeking a Senior Supplier Development Engineer specializing in injection molding to support the development and manufacturing of Starlink user terminals. This high-profile, cross-functional position plays a critical role in ensuring quality, reliability, and scalability of user terminal manufacturing across our global supplier base. You will coordinate closely with internal engineering, manufacturing teams, and global suppliers to execute effective supply chain strategies and achieve production goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Improve quality, cost, delivery, and capacity metrics for injection molded parts used in Starlink products
• Develop new plastic injection tooling projects to meet product performance and cosmetic requirements
• Research and identify new materials, manufacturing technologies, and finish options
• Review Design for Manufacturing (DFM) from suppliers, including gating strategy, Moldflow, and Mold Warp analysis
• Review and approve prototype and development tool designs, and tooling maintenance procedures
• Direct tooling modifications and approve First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) reports
• Collaborate with design, materials, and manufacturing engineers to understand injection molded parts, assembly, metrology, and sub-system design intent
• Support procurement by strategically sourcing parts matched to supplier competencies through process and quality system assessment
• Create and define supplier technical and quality requirements for New Product Introduction (NPI) and production phases
• Lead resolution of supplier quality issues through root cause analysis, serving as liaison between purchasing, engineering, production, and suppliers
• Define and ensure supplier compliance with product technical requirements
